Forever

This isn't our wedding song, although I think it's so incredibly appropriate for myself, or anybody else getting married. While I am not a Ben Harper fan per say, this song is simply amazing.
"Forever" Ben Harper

Not talkin' 'bout a year
No not three or four
I don't want that kind of forever
In my life anymore
Forever always seems
to be around when it begins
but forever never seems
to be around when it ends
So give me your forever
Please your forever
Not a day less will do from you

People spend so much time
Every single day
Runnin' 'round all over town
Givin' their forever away
But no not me
I won't let my forever roam
and now I hope I can find
my forever a home
So give me your forever
Please your forever
Not a day less will do
From you

Like a handless clock with numbers
An infinite of time
No not the forever found
Only in the mind
Forever always seems
to be around when things begin
but forever never seems
to be around when things end
So give me your forever
Please your forever
Not a day less will do
From you

If you're all really lucky, I might pop in for another blog before the big day, but I make no promises :)!!!

The "Other" Shows at the Jones Beach Theater

So one week until "I Do".....and the weather is still on the fritz. I've decided that no matter what, my wedding is going to be beautiful, romantic, warm and intimate. I've actually worked at our wedding location for 9 years, and one thing I have learned is that it's the most beautiful place to watch Mother Nature put on a show. Actually, I think any show put on at this theater is special, however mother nature makes sure to steal the show whenever she shows up.

Some of my fondest memories at work are weather related - the time the elevator got struck by lightening when I was standing under it? Or when the "tornado" took a pretzel cart for a ride?! Or when Bonich got locked in the fridge? --oh, wait, that last one wasn't weather related!

Anyway, if it rains on my wedding, or hurricanes, or lightening or whatever, I can still guarantee the show will be amazing. Here are some pictures from after storms have passed through:

Couldn't resist a snapshot of three guys lined up taking pics of the sunset!

Thank you Jones Beach Theater for being such a significant part of my life. And to the people that have stood beside me, at work, at home, and through life, I cannot wait to be on the receiving end of the party!!!

and it's like rain on your wedding day....

Lately all I hear are questions like "how are you so calm?" and "are you nervous yet?". Up until today I have been able to honestly say, "I'm totally calm! What's there to be nervous about?". But then again, the past two weeks here in NY have been beautiful; sunny, warm, nice breeze and overall lovely. And then Sunday happened. Sunday it all of a sudden got cold and dark, then the skies opened and it poured. Today is Wednesday, the skies are still open, it is still pouring. My wedding is in 11 days, and here is the 10 day forecast:

I.have.officially.lost.my.cool. Last year it was 90 degrees over Memorial Day weekend. The year before that, high 80s, the year before that 80s again. You get the picture. Why am I stressed? My ENTIRE wedding is outdoors on the beach. The dinner is under a tent, but the dance floor is on the lawn, under the stars - if they come out, that is.  Now here we are, 11 days before the wedding and we are calling companies to rent heaters. HEATERS! It's the freaking last day before JUNE! I'm not so much worried about rain - in fact, rain can be cool. See:

From Style Me Pretty

No, rain doesn't bother me. I am scared shitless, however, of my guests being cold. If it rains you can go in a tent, if it's cold there is nowhere to warm up. My biggest fear right now is that guests are going to be huddled in the bathroom around little candles trying to stay warm, shivering and miserable, while I, the bride, cry in the corner because my guests are too cold to enjoy themselves. Dramatic, much? I guess it's the bride-stress that has me a bit irrational.

But seriously, I'm in panic mode. While my wedding planner scrambles to secure enough heaters, I've got to make a run to find some cozy pashminas to offer my guests. Other brides have tied in the knot in slightly chilly weather, and they've made it look awesome, I mean, check out these pictures:

I can do this, right? I just need to let air into my lungs and I can overcome bridal weather terror. Some things are just totally out of my control, but damn the world if I won't do my best to make the day as wonderful as possible for myself, my future husband, and all of our guests. Rain or shine.

A Case of the Mondays

With less than two weeks until the wedding, and the largest "to-do" list I have ever seen.....I seem to hate on Mondays even more. My 9-5 definitely pays the bills, but it's also cramping my style for getting things accomplished before the wedding. I've taken off every Friday this month, and yet even the three day weekends just aren't long enough. By the time Monday rolls around I feel miserable knowing I didn't accomplish enough over the weekends, and I won't be able to get anything else done until the next weekend. Damn you, Monday.

Alright everybody, I hope that I get through this Monday in one piece, and I certainly hope the same for all of you!

Holiday Minted Submissions

In the world of design, Christmas starts about 8 months early. That's correct, many designers are working on their 2011 Holiday collections already.

Minted is having their annual Holiday Card challenge as we speak. I might be busy, busy, busy right now, but I absolutely had to squeak out at least one submission. Here are the two I've submitted:

I don't meant to sound as though I'm wishing by wedding away, but I cannot wait for the wedding craziness to be over so I can show you all the custom designs I've been working on! Between designs for my own big day, and a bunch of orders that have come through my Etsy shop - I have certainly been busy!

If you haven't checked out my shop, please hop over and take a look! Since the thank-you notes have all been such a success, I plan on adding a few more designs as soon as I have the time. Thank you all for the love and support!

On the Menu Tonight....

Tonight, I kid you not, I had tater tots as my dinner.

This is what happens when life gets too busy to go grocery shopping and you're too cheap to order in.

OK, that was my confession of the evening. Now I'm off to finish working on some custom designs :)

Bad Day & Love

I'm having a bad day. A really, really bad day.
  • My alarm didn't go off so I was running a half hour late to work.
  • The Whitestone Bridge has a new traffic pattern. Make that an hour late for work.
  • I got to work and had stacks of "to-do" paperwork left on my chair. So I sat on them and pretended they weren't there.
  • I had no milk left for coffee (thank you to my favorite co-worker for giving me some of her milk)
  • My grad school team members noticed we were missing a vital part of our presentation that was due tonight. The discovery happened about two hours before we were supposed to give the presentation.
  • My very best friend in the ENTIRE world was going to Klienfeld's today to look for a wedding gown for her wedding in October. I couldn't join her. I had to give a presentation.
  • Oh, right, then the fire drill went off during said presentation.
  • Got a phone call from my wedding coordinator saying the hotel for the wedding is making my fiance and I pay for our own hotel room on the night of our wedding. The same hotel also said they no longer have a bartender and so guests will not be offered drinks and refreshments between church and cocktail hour. Guests are welcome, though, to twiddle their thumbs.
So anyway - I just got home from class, shoved pizza in my face, and curled up on the floor with my dog. Even the most miserable of days can be saved just by a little puppy lovin'.

A bad day is instantly better when your dog is having an even worse hair day than you are.

This face makes ANY day better!!!
Here's to a better tomorrow!!! Cheers!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day.

My mother is the most special woman on the planet. I'm lucky to have her and even luckier to say she's my mom and best friend. This mother's day needed to be done on a budget (wedding in three weeks, EEK!) but that doesn't mean she won't know she's loved!

As I prepare to become a wife myself, I look to my mom as the ultimate role model. She and my dad have been married for 25+ years and have certainly been through a lot. She has taught me:
  • What a successful relationship looks like
  • How to forgive and let go
  • What love really looks like
  • That support is as unconditional as love it
  • I am worth it, whatever it is
  • I can do it, whatever it is
  • How to vacuum the inside of a stove
  • To treat myself well
  • It's OK to be silly

This year for Mother's Day I indulged her inner Gleek and got her a few Glee things to add to her growing collection. I'm sure there are tons and tons of things out there to get for Mother's Day, but I thought this particular idea was so touching.

This idea was originally posted on I Am Baker, and I absolutely love it.  Making cookies and  personalizing them for Mother's Day is such a great, easy and special treat. Maybe I'll do this next year :)

Anyway, I hope everybody enjoys the day!

The Blogging Dilemma

Alright everybody, I have a dilemma. There are too many things on my plate right now and it's hindering my ability to give you the best blog ever. For starters, I have so many things on my mind that I want to blog about, but then I just don't know which thing to blog about first...so I end up staring at the "new post" screen for hours before closing it out with no new post at all. Harrrumph.

So here are some topics that have been running in my mind lately:
1- I'm getting married in three weeks. Nuff said.
2- My new invitation line is getting closer and closer to reveal. Would you like some more sneak peaks?
3- Why am I not following more blogs? There's great info out there!! How 'bout this - if you follow me, I'll follow you?
4- My home is a mess right now because both Mr. Law and I have been working overtime, overtime and more overtime....that's what happens when you have a wedding to pay for.
5- I've been obsessed with mashed potatoes lately. Do any of you want to hear more about mashed potatoes? I didn't think so.
6- I should be updating my Etsy shop with all of the custom orders I've been working on. Fun :)
7- It's past my bedtime. It's always past my bedtime. Does anybody have any advice for staying up after 9:30pm? Should I just give up and admit I am secretly an 80-year-old?
*sigh*
this is why I can never decide on a blog topic.

On a good note, I had my final gown fitting this morning. The next time I wear it will be on my wedding day. Freaky. I know.

23 Days to go....

I'll be a married woman in just 23 days. It's crazy, scary, amazing and exciting all at the same time. Having so many emotions is just down right draining.  Right now my days are made up of lists and lists and more lists. I have lists of things to go at work, lists of things to do at home, and lists of things that need to be done for the wedding.

This weekend I am looking forward to my second gown fitting and putting together the favor bags for guests staying at the hotel for our wedding. All good things :) I also need to finish up putting together a slideshow....hmm, I forgot to add that one to the list!!

Anywhoooo....I am glad it's Friday and I don't have to wake up super early tomorrow. The weather this weekend looks delightful, and I'm totally ready to enjoy it.

Here's to wishing you all a fabulous Friday night as well!!

Enjoy :)

Today's Deal

As you know, I am always on the hunt for a really good deal- in fact I think I posted about some of my favorite sites on the blog already. What you don't know is that I have also been on the hunt for the perfect lamp/lantern for my little entry way. We don't have a ton of lighting in our apartment (nor do we really need it, thank goodness for great natural light!) and we wanted to put a light up next to our front door. I've been searching high and low to find the perfect outdoor (yes, outdoor) light fixture to put up. We want to bring the outdoors in and make our indoor entry feel a little like an out door entry. Anyway, I finally found the perfect fixture on The Foundry.

I love it! I cannot wait for it to arrive! Here's a glimpse of my front door - patiently waiting it's new light....

Be sure to stay tuned, I'll give you a nice little before and after once we get our lighting fixture.

Happy Monday!

Since I am now only a few weeks away from the wedding, I have taken a few extra vaca days to prepare....today would be one of those days. But before I prepare, I think I might need a nap - which I can do, because hey, it's Monday and I'm not at work!! :)

Don't worry though, I'll have a new post once I get my act together!
